How to Safely Close a Disturbing Audio Tab on Kexart.com Without Panicking
A step-by-step guide to quickly and calmly stop unwanted audio from Kexart.com or similar shock sites, including keyboard shortcuts and browser settings.
Stay Calm and Follow These Steps
If you accidentally click the 'Open Gallery' button on Kexart.com and hear disturbing sounds, do not panic. Your computer is not infected, and you can stop the audio quickly.
Step 1: Use Keyboard Shortcuts
Press Ctrl + W (Windows) or Cmd + W (Mac) to close the current tab immediately. This is the fastest method. If the tab doesn't close, try Ctrl + F4.
Step 2: Mute the Browser Tab
Right-click on the tab and select 'Mute Site' (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). This silences the audio without closing the tab, allowing you to investigate later if needed.
Step 3: Close the Browser Entirely
If the sound persists, close the browser via Alt + F4 (Windows) or Cmd + Q (Mac). This kills all processes.
Step 4: Clear Browser Cache and History
After reopening, go to settings and clear your cache and history to remove any stored scripts. This prevents auto-reloads.
Prevention Tips
Enable 'Autoplay Blocking' in your browser settings. In Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Additional Content Settings > Sound. Set to 'Block sites from playing sound'.
